Shaun Swiger is an associate with Kneafsey & Friend LLP. He primarily represents individuals and businesses in commercial and intellectual property disputes and general breach of contract matters. Shaun’s intellectual property experience includes litigating patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret matters both for plaintiffs and defendants. His general commercial litigation experience includes litigating business contract disputes, corporate fraud and alter ego actions, tax disputes, and commercial unlawful detainer actions for both landlords and tenants. In addition to commercial landlord tenant disputes, Shaun has successfully defended residential tenants facing wrongful eviction in violation of the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Ordinance. Shaun also has experience defending businesses against wage and hour actions and access discrimination claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA Title II and III).

Shaun received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2004. He graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University Max M. Fisher College of Business where he received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration in 2001. He has used his expertise in finance and accounting to assess and evaluate complex financial and damages issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Shaun was an associate at Marrone Robinson Frederick & Foster A.P.C., a Burbank, California law firm, where he represented various corporations in defense of personal injury and various property damage claims. While an associate at Marrone Robinson, Shaun successfully represented corporations such as Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., Columbia Pictures, Gracie Films, Inc., and Safeway.

  • Successfully defended an unfair competition and trade secret action against one of the world’s largest independent distributor of inductive components.
  • Successfully represented a small business in a FINRA arbitration involving a complicated hedging transaction used in the sale of the business to a publicly traded company.
  • Obtained 20 year injunction and damages for trade secret misappropriation.
  • Obtained $800,000 judgment for breach of contract and alter ego liability.
